While still relatively new, the world of electric motorcycles is constantly growing, with new and exciting options coming to market regularly.
As with all motorcycles since the first motor-powered bicycle, the aim of the game has always been to go faster, and with electric bikes, the premise is no different.

We are also now seeing some incredible electric dirt bikes that are little more than a basic frame, two wheels, and a battery. These emission-free off-road machines are nimble, powerful, quick, and ready for all the abuse off-road riding is known for.
So, here we have compiled a list of the fastest electric dirt bikes on the market.
Let’s take a look at what’s available.
Zero FX
- Top Speed: 85mph
- Weight: 131kg
- Seat Height: 881mm
- Price: £13,685
Zero Motorcycles are one of the companies leading the charge when it comes to electric bikes, they got their start in off-road electric bikes, and the FX is the evolution of that.
Although it isn’t strictly an off-road bike like the other bikes on the list, this dual-sport leans more towards the dirt than anything else; the bonus is you can ride to the trail on the road before hitting the dirt then ride home again.
Zero claims the FX has the highest power and energy density battery in the industry with a claimed 90 miles range based on city riding.
Custom suspension by Showa, specially made for Zero, ensures you have the best suspension front and back to take on the most challenging terrain.
You can connect up to the Zero App, where you can completely customise your ride depending on the terrain you are tackling with two modes to get you started; street or sport.

Stark Varg Alpha
- Top Speed: Estimated to be in excess of 120mph
- Weight: 110kg
- Seat Height: 940mm
- Price: £8,500
While Stark did not opt to announce the Varg Alpha’s top speed, it is being touted as the fastest dirt bike in the world, even out riding the gas-powered KTM 450 SX-F, which has a top speed of 123 mph.
The Varg Alpha claims 80 horsepower and 938 Nm of torque at the wheel, which are some impressive specs to back up their claim.
Maybe the biggest claim that Stark makes is that the Varg has 30% more power than any other 450cc combustion bike on the market.
The Varg is one of the most stylish and traditional-looking electric dirt bikes currently on the market. There are two power options, the Varg Standard and the Varg Alpha, with the Alpha being 80 horsepower over the standard 60 horsepower offering.
Stark allows the rider to customise their bike from the get-go with choices over not only the power output but the brakes, suspension, side stand choices, and colour options.
These custom options, along with one of the lightest dirt bike frames on the market, make for an incredibly agile, precise performance motorcycle.

KTM Freeride E-XC
- Top Speed: 50mph
- Weight: 111kg

KTM was one of the first traditional motorcycle manufacturers to start producing electric motorcycles, and the Freeride E-CX is their latest generation electric dirt bike.
KTM has gone all out with the details to ensure their electric bikes don’t feel less than or lack something compared to their gas-powered bikes.
Thanks to the continued partnership, the Freeride gets WP suspension front and back, which is often argued as some of the best suspension available.
Aluminium composite frame, swingarm, and aluminium rims keep the weight down while maintaining optimum strength and rigidity, which is much needed when off-roading.

Sur-Ron LBX
- Top Speed: 47mph
- Weight: 50kg
- Seat Height: 870mm
- Price: £4,695
The Sur-Ron LBX isn’t quite as extreme as the all-new Storm, but it still packs quite the punch for a lightweight off-roader.
This bike bridges the gap between electric bicycles and motorcycles; it is considered a proper motorcycle with no pedal assistance required. Although the wheels, tyres, brakes, and suspension are all cycle parts.
It weighs in at just under 50kg, so it feels more like a bicycle than a motorcycle when it comes to riding and being able to throw it around. There is an eco and sport mode which means your range switches between 24 and 40 miles.
It is far from the fastest bike on the list, but for off-road fun, it has more than enough power to keep you entertained on green lanes or dirt tracks.
